Anxiety
Tired of constantly managing your anxiety and not living?
You seem calm and cool on the outside. Your mind races. You avoid things you want to do. You white-knuckle through your days. Then you are exhausted from trying to stay in control. The coping strategies help you get through, but they keep you stuck.
Your anxiety may be trying to tell you something. It may show up when you need to feel safer or more connected, or when something from the past is still bothering you. But it becomes a real problem when you're more afraid of your own feelings than whatever's actually going on.
How we work together:
Through Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we figure out what's going on beneath the anxiety: the attachment fears (for example, not being enough, being abandoned, or being too much), the emotions you've been avoiding (fear, shame, grief), and the ways you learned to protect yourself that made sense then but keep you disconnected now. In a safe space, we will make sense of the habitual patterns you have developed to manage distress, and access and process these emotions instead of running from them. Together, we will work to help you feel more secure, capable, and emotionally connected.
We'll also use DBT skills—practical tools to help you tolerate distress, regulate intense emotions, and stay grounded when anxiety spikes.
