Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) (or Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy – EFIT) is a humanistic and experiential approach to psychotherapy. It is rooted in adult attachment theory, which views human beings as innately relational and social, wired for connection.
EFT is known as a cutting-edge therapy model that is used in individual therapy (as well as in couples therapy), and is especially helpful in addressing anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress.
Its empirically tested interventions focus not only on alleviating symptoms of distress but also on getting to the root of emotional and relational issues. Bringing awareness to, understanding, expressing, and processing emotions helps bring insight into patterns and experiences – ultimately leading to emotional balance, agency, and secure relationships with self and others.
